American troops to be permanently stationed in Darwin

There was speculation today that an agreement would be reached that some American troops would be permanently stationed in Darwin, Australia.  Information is still unclear, but it's clear that a strengthening of America's military access to Australia is being discussed.

This message scared me as I thought Australia moved away from Empire in 1901 (in this case the British Empire).  But now it seems like we'll be continuing to further our support for the ever growing American Empire.

This undermines our nations sovereignty and further shows the bi-partisan support for the increasing military support Australia provides to unsolicited American wars.  Our servicemen and women are giving their lives for aggressive wars that have no relevance at all to Australian national security.

Not only are these invasions aggressive and unwarranted, they are also hugely costly.  Some figures suggest Australia will spend as much as $1.3 BILLION dollars on the Afghanistan war.

Australia declared in 1901 that we did not need to be under the yoke of, or be protected by, a foreign Empire.  I suggest we find the same strength that we had in those days and declare the same to America.  Reject their request to harbour troops on our soil, end all military support of aggressive wars and bring our troops home.

  1. The banks are putting the troops there not the American people. Where's your central bank because they are at the root of this evil.
